Jane Daniel, PhD

Jane Daniel, PhD,
Licensed Psychologist

Experience: Psychologist for 40 years. Specialty training in trauma treatment, pain management, work-related burnout, and business leadership effectiveness coaching. Living on my husband’s family farm in Western Iowa, growing corn and soybeans. Hobbies: I am an adventurous cook, bread baker, painter, and poet.

Experience: I’ve spent my career in healthcare and mental health care, with a focus on supporting people through difficult decisions, challenges, and transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I value creating a space where people feel genuinely heard while working together to explore solutions, build skills, and identify meaningful next steps. No strong personal connection to farming but I have worked with farmers. I come in to sessions willing to both listen and learn. I do have a wannabe farm dog stuck living the city life...although we do herding training on a small Iowa farm with sheep and cattle. He has the impressive and non-stop work ethic of a farmer though! Hobbies: Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and I love all animals. I especially enjoy training and working with dogs. I’m also happiest when there’s good food (whether I’m cooking, baking, or eating it) and music.

Experience: Mental health counseling in corrections, schools, hospital settings. My parents own 90 acres and lease to a farmer that we know well. Hobbies: Attempting to garden, spending time with my kids watching their activities, walking my dog, mowing my 3-acre yard uninterrupted.

Experience: Experience with veterans, end of life/grief work, individual and group therapy. Growing up in rural Iowa, I developed a deep appreciation for the values that are at the heart of the farming communities - hard work, resilience, and looking for your people. I understand that agriculture comes with unique joys and challenges, and I strive to create a welcoming space where we can explore the stress, uncertainty, and demands that come with this life. Hobbies: A little about me! I was born and raised in Milo, Iowa - a large farming community in southern Iowa. When I am not working, you'll find me spending time with my husband and two daughters, enjoying the outdoors, cheering on the local football team, or taking advantage of the simple things that rural Iowa has to offer. I love exploring local parks, attending and supporting community events, or simply enjoying a quiet evening with the family.

Farming Connection: I had several great-grandparents who were farmers - in Iowa, Maryland and Oregon. My grandmother was born on her family's farm in Hartwick, Iowa. Hobbies: I love animals of all kinds. I play mandolin in an Americana band. I love to go camping and hiking with my husband, especially in the month of September.
